* In pickleball, "open play" refers to a casual, drop-in play session where players can join without pre-arranged matches or reservations. It's a social way to play, typically involving a rotation system** where players take turns on the court. Simply show up at the designated time and location, and you can participate.
** A rotational paddle holder system is used when the courts are full at Riverside Park. If players are waiting, please limit play to one game to 11 points. The paddle holder determines who’s up next for the open court.

What does a 2.5 or 3.0 player look like?
2.5 level players have limited experience. They can sustain a short rally with players of equal ability. They can serve and get the ball in play most of the time. They know the basic rules, are learning proper court positioning and can keep score.
3.0 players can hit a medium paced forehand shot but lack directional intent, consistency and the ability to control height. They avoid using a backhand. They’re able to hit a medium paced serve but lack depth, direction, and consistency. They can hit a medium paced volley but lack direction and consistency. They know proper court positioning and the rules and can keep score.
